Bruce Hood is the owner and expert sharpener behind Stay Sharp. With over twenty years of experience in sharpening everything from knives to craft and fabric scissors, Bruce brings a depth of skill and precision to every job. He is a certified sharpener through the International Scissor Sharpener’s Association (ISSA) and an authorized technician for the Bonika Shears Warranty Center, demonstrating his commitment to quality and professionalism. Bruce is also a member of the National Sharpener’s Guild (NSG), keeping him at the forefront of industry standards and techniques.
A military veteran and retired business owner, Bruce launched Stay Sharp as his “second act,” turning a lifelong craft into a new venture focused on serving stylists, groomers, and professionals with on-site, high-quality shear sharpening and sales. When he’s not honing blades, you might just find Bruce skydiving—or as he likes to say, “jumping out of perfectly good airplanes for fun.” His dedication, discipline, and adventurous spirit are at the heart of everything Stay Sharp stands for.
